Summary
NoS Summary - Processes involved in making curtain ties and tassels.
British Pathe synopsis: "Filmed at Tottenham". C/U of a NoSle of fibres shown to the camera. M/S of women at weaving machines in a mill. Several women work at the machines. C/U of woman guiding thread on to bobbins. C/U of the loom in operation. Extreme C/U and slow motion footage show the workings of the machine in detail. Woman stands by the loom and cuts the threads. Man attaches threads to a strange circular wooden spinning wheel. He walks away from the wheel pulling out the threads. He walks backwards and forwards to the wheel attaching threads. He walks forward with the wheel in operation. C/U of the thread as it is twisted. Groups of threads are attached and again spun together. "No girdle is a girdle until it has knobs on - in other words, tassels - " Seem to be more like the long twisted fancy ropes used to pull curtains. C/U of tassels being made. Two tassels are shown to the camera.
