Summary
NoS Summary - girls flashing off their prize-winning legs.
British Pathe synopsis: "Meet M’selle Pfanner whose shapely understandings won for her the Championship of Northern France." C/U of the lovely lady with a river behind her. She fluffs up her short hairdo and smiles. High angle shot of Miss Pfanner sitting on a strange bicycle-like contraption on the river. "M’selle places her faith in cycling for leg exercises - and if the roads are crowded, why, take to the water!" C/U of her legs as she turns the pedals. L/S of her pedalling the contraption which is a kind of water bicycle. The camera follows her as she cycles backwards and forwards. "And they’re insured against accident for £10,000 - a first-class risk!" She poses on the bike with her legs crossed to give the cameraman and cinema audience a good view of her lovely legs. Extreme C/U of Miss Pfanner’s legs and ankles, camera tilts up very slowly until we get a glimpse of her underwear - stocking tops just visible! "On the other hand, Miss Barbara Newberry, winner of the Ziegfeld Follies annual Contest for shapeliness, believes in hard dancing as an essential - " M/S of Miss Newberry standing on a table whilst a middle aged man in glasses measures her legs with a tape measure. She holds her skirt above her knees for full effect. He then measures her ankle. And her calf. C/U of Miss Newberry with a big smile on her face. L/S of her standing on the table whilst the man looks on approvingly. She walks down off her plinth and shakes hands with the man.
