NoS Summary - traditional Dutch costume on people of various ages.
British Pathe synopsis: Various C/Us of women in traditional Dutch costume. M/S of 6 women dressed the same with aprons, mop caps and scarves. They pose for the camera. They are middle aged women - not glamour girls. Intertitle reads: "Apart from the three C’s (Canals, Clogs and Cheeses), the most conspicuous thing about Holland is the hat wear - " C/U of group of four women and a little girl wearing ornate head dresses and costumes. M/S three women chatting - they also wear large hats and outfits incorporating aprons. Another three women in different outfits stand together for the Pathe cameraman. A man wearing a traditional outfit - lederhosen and a waistcoat... grabs a woman and cuddles her - other women stand around and laugh. "What the Rue de la Paix figures out for new hat fashions is of no moment here - " Four women with hats chat in a square. M/S of a middle aged couple in strange garb. Girls wearing large circular head dresses which look to be made of lace pose for the camera. "But, though they be the despair of the Paris Modiste, life goes easily in the land of Gretchen." An accordion band marches past the camera. All the players are young boys, (between 8 and 12). Then we see a girls’ accordion band. There is a wider age range here, some of the girls could be 13 or 14. Various people parade past the camera, all in traditional dress.
