Summary
NoS Summary - the funeral procession of a Princess in Bali
British Pathe synopsis: "An episode in Bali, the Island Mysterious, Dutch Indies." Introductory intertitle reads: "The Princess is dead...Long lines of mourners pay their homage, for her rule, though short, was good." High angle shot of a funeral parade - mourners carry spears and parasols. M/S of men in the parade passing the camera. Various shots of the parade. A long piece of white cloth is carried above the heads of a procession of men. "Ornaments, dishes - a multitude of things of value, to accompany her into the land beyond the veil - " Women walk along with ornaments on their heads. High angle shot of long procession of people carrying things on their heads. Low angle of mourners climbing steps to the temple. More offerings are brought to the temple. "The great funeral car solemnly approaches bearing the frail body of the Princess that was - " Incredibly ornate vehicle - almost like a temple on wheels - passes the camera. "The Princess passes - a brief shadow on the eternal march of time..." Various shots of temple-like constructions and mourners walking up steps to pay their respects.
