Summary
British Pathe synopsis: Subtitle reads: "A Paper tearing lesson - by Seymour Drasi." Introductory intertitle reads: "Just a piece of paper - and a couple of cunning hands to shape its destiny." M/S of Mr Drasi who holds a large piece of white paper which he has folded. He quickly tears pieces of paper from the folded piece, putting the scrap paper in his pocket. Dissolves are used to condense the time taken to make all the tears. When he opens it out it has made a very pretty pattern. It looks like he has to disguise a bit that went slightly wrong - one of the edges is torn. "Quick, wasn’t it? And our Camera can speed it up still more - " Camera trick is used to make Seymour tear the paper even quicker. The next decoration he makes is of five men holding hands. "The Fairy stair-carpet." He holds up a long piece of paper with what looks like a fairly random pattern on it. "All done by kindness - and our trick camera ." Stop frame animation and film reversal is used to make all the bits of paper reform so that the torn bits appear to reassemble into an untorn piece of paper. Even the outer wrapping paper appears magically to reform itself around the paper - revealing it to have been a "paper table cover."
