- NoS Summary - a marriage ceremony in Hungary.
NoS synopsis: "Marriage is a lottery - but they’re fond of lotteries in Hungary". "The Bridesmaids appear in all their quaint Sunday best (and innumerable petticoats)." L/S of three Hungarian women in traditional costume walking down a village street. They pass the camera. M/S of them walking away from the camera seen from behind. They hold hands. Two women gossip over a fence. They hold something in their hands which they keep trying to grab from each other. "And all the village belles (ringed or otherwise) proceed to church - " Parade of women in traditional finery moves past the camera. They hold hymn books or prayer books. A couple walk through a gate holding hands. They are followed by two bridesmaids holding hands. "After the deed is did, they all have their fun in their own way - " The guests all emerge from the church. C/U of the groom chucking his bride under the chin. He turns to smile at the camera. They laugh, he strokes her face. C/U of one of the village girls who holds the ends of her headscarf. M/S of group of women and girls in their best frocks. M/S of the wedding party dancing in the open air. The band are seen. Low angle shot of group of women standing on a hillside waving handkerchiefs. "And, talking about dress, they still have their own ideas in Czecho-Slovakia " (sic). Czechoslovakia - M/S of three women on a farm cuddling lambs. M/S of two women talking over a fence. One holds a baby in her arms. C/U of young boy sitting in front of a pile of logs eating something. He looks at the camera. "Standardised Sunday dress - here’s a good example for Adam to reflect upon - " M/S of large number of women processing down a street in traditional dress. There are a few men amongst them but mostly women. M/S of the women walking away from camera. - Keywords
