NCB Commentary - Liverpool means the Mersey and its international seaport.
To 20 year old Judy Wannop, this year’s Miss Ashton-under-Lyne and Miss England finalist, Liverpool means home. It’s the home as well of so many trend setting fashions of the 60s.
To Mary Burke, Liverpool still means a city of contrast between the old and the new and of partisan rivalries.
Both Judy and Mary recently took part in a Coal Board exhibition, one with a difference. A fashion show was the off-beat centerpiece of a display of solid fuel appliances.
Fashion and room heaters go together, it seems.
Warm hearted Liverpool knows how to keep warm, and how to counter the chilly breezes that sweep up river with the big ships. - Keywords
