- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: De Valera Makes Call to League. DESCRIPTION: Irish President takes chair at Geneva, and stresses his country’s desire for peace. SHOTLIST: Close shot of de Valera standing. People working in conference room. Close shots of de Valera speaking. Panning shot of assembly. Speech: The avoidance of war is of such concern to humanity that no state should be permitted to jeopardise the common interest by such selfish action contrary to the Government. There is on all sides complaints and criticism that the League is devoting its time to matters of secondary importance while vital international problems are being ignored. I want to believe that Ireland wants peace and that the people want to lead their own lives as people with their neighbours are the world.
