Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Funeral of King Albert of the Belgians. Proclamation of King Leopold III. DESCRIPTION: Mourning crowds see beloved monarch pass through Brussels on last journey. Sub.1. At the Palace of Laeken; with troops of the Allies partaking, is enacting the last march-past. Sub.2. The next day takes place, the proclamation of the new King, Leopold III. SHOTLIST: Procession. Shot of the top of the Royal Palace at Brussels, with flag flying. Shot of the coffin borne under national flag. Elevated shots of the funeral procession and the spectators on balconies etc. The cortege reaches the Cathedral and the bell tolls. Shots of the mourners including the Prince of Wales. Sub.1. Prince Leopold, Prince Charles and Italian Crown Prince ascend steps to take their place on the dais, followed by the Queen, the French President and King Boris of Bulgaria. In the marchpast are the Fifth Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, they are slow marching. CU shot of the Prince of Wales in naval uniform taken from the rear. Back of head seen only. Sub.2. King Leopold III riding through Brussels on horseback. He is greeted by Burgomaster Max. Crowds line the roads and cheer. Coach follows and Queen Astrid and small daughter seated. Daughter waves to crowd. Procession stops at grave of unknown soldiers and salute same. CU of King Leopold seated on horseback.
