Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Empire Athletes at White City. DESCRIPTION: Ceremonial inauguration of Games brings together in London competitors from sixteen British lands. SHOTLIST: Shot of nationalities in groups marching past including Indians. Shot of personality taking the oath for all the competitors. The acting Lord Mayor of London declares the games open. Pigeons being let loose and flying over the White City track. Elevated general shot of the stadium with the assembled competitors. The 440yds hurdles won by F Hunter. HB Hart of South Africa throwing the discus. Miss Lund of England wins the throwing the javelin. Womens’ relay race being run, win for Britain. Flat race being run. Starting pistol heard plainly. The runners past camera. The band plays God Save the King and the last three competitors stand on the stand. Freeley wins this.
