Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Their Majesties Visit Scotland. DESCRIPTION: The King and Queen arrive in Edinburgh and drive down the Royal Mile to Holyrood House. In Glasgow the King unveils a stone at Bellahouston Park which marks the site for the 1938 Scottish Empire Exhibition. At Dumbarton Castle the King accepts the keys to the castle. SHOTLIST: GV Royal train pulled by two engines into Edinburgh Waverley Station. TS King, Queen and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret from train. GV Scots Guards as Guard of Honour on platform goes to attention and standard lowered. TS King and Queen greeted. TS King inspects Guard of Honour. TS King, Queen and Princesses away in landau. BV Landau leaving station. GV Princes Street with crowds and decorations. LS Edinburgh Castle pan to Scott Memorial. GV procession in Princes Street. TS Car past with Senior herald for Scotland. TS Cavalry past. GV Royal carriage and escort passed. GV Train into Glasgow Station. GV King and Queen from train and greeted. GV Guard of Honour on platform. GV King inspects Guard of Honour. GV Car draws up at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, Queen and King alight and mount dais. MCU Queen and Lord Provost GV Royal Party on dais King salutes as National Anthem played. 2 shots lines of people presented to King and Queen. LS & MS two little girls present bouquet to the Queen. 2 shots as King and Queen welcomed to Bellahouston Park. LS King unveils foundation stone for 1938 Scottish Empire Exhibition. MS King and Queen walk past crowd. LAS Queen leans over balcony. TS Royal car through streets. MS Queen and King alight. LAS King and Queen on balcony probably Glasgow City Hall. MCU Mass of hands waving in crowd. 2 shots Royal car past crowds in street. GV Procession of cars arrive at Dumbarton Castle. MS King and Queen from car and greeted. LS Royal Party walk through crowds to Castle. GV ditto TS ditto. GV Guard of Honour Present Arms in front of King. TS King salutes. TS King walks to inspection. GV King inspects Guard of Honour. TS King. GV Scots Guardsman at Castle door challenges "halt who goes there" voice replies "His Majesty the King" Guard says "Guards about" door opens and guards come through and run down steps. TS As they fall in in front of King, they come to attention. GV Ceremony of handing over keys to Castle. GV King and Constable then mount steps to Castle. TS Queen and party walk towards steps. GV Queen arrives at top of steps and both enter Castle. Sequence: King and Queen meeting people on Castle terrace. LS King and Queen down castle steps. GV Their Majesties walk to wall and wave pan to crowd waving in return. TS Their Majesties with crowd beyond. GV Their Majesties walk back and stand as National Anthem played.
