- HMS Ramillies is lying in the Mersey. In Cardiff. Strikers sign on for strike pay. Strikers demonstrate against running of corporation buses. In Leeds. Fair service of trams is being run by volunteers. Theatres as usual. Touring companies changed over by charabancs. In London. Many more buses are running and crowds of volunteer drivers are enrolling. Police are instantly ready for any emergency. Thousands of recruits are already joining the Civil Constabulary Reserve, nicknamed "The Tin Hat Police". Reserves of mounted police are drilling in Hyde Park. Troops convoy food lorries from docks daily and London’s food supply is assured.
