Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Sydney Bridge Has Dramatic Opening. DESCRIPTION: Hon. JT Lang cuts tape in official ceremony after Captain de Groot had forestalled him. Sub 1. Mounted officer is arrested after sensational episode and ribbon rejoined for Mr Lang. SHOTLIST: Elevated shots of procession through streets. Aerial panning shot over city. Sir Philip Game reads message from the King. Sir Philip, on platform with other personalities, reads message. Takes salute. Hon. JT Lang. Premier. NSW. Speaks into "mike". Officer who Unexpectedly Cuts Ribbon Is Surrounded by Crowd. Officer led off. Crowd around same. Ribbon is joined for Official Cutting by Mr Lang. Shots of the ribbon being joined. Mr Lang cutting same. Aerial panning shots of the harbour from town. Not spectacular shots. Aerial shots of the Harbour with ships. Bridge not in picture. Cannons firing salute with part of Bridge in background. Good shot from above of speedboats cutting across harbour. Shots of procession. Australian natives are marching in this. Panning shot across river with top of Bridge in picture. Shot of structures from end of same. Panning down to procession across same. Carnival floats across bridge into camera. Shots of crowd. Cut material is much the same in a shorter version and includes Australian Flag flying and night shot of the Bridge illuminated by floodlights. The above was the original Australian shipment and sections have been cut for the GR story. There are not really good scenic shots of the bridge.
