- With picturesque and dramatic ceremonies - as old as the regiment itself - the famous 1st Battalion The Seaforth Highlanders - welcome the New Year (First and Exclusive pictures to the Pathe Gaz.) Just before midnight the "Old Year" - the oldest soldier of the Battalion is played out of Barracks to strains of "Happy we’ve been a’together". On the stroke of midnight the "New Year" the youngest drummer boy is played in "Wi a waggin’ tail". The CO and officers serve "Atholl Brose"to everyone in the Battalion. "Should auld acquaintance be forgot ..."
