Summary
Our operator risked his life to obtain these exclusive pictures of much discussed American life-saving device for entrapped submarine crews. The room is partially flooded to equalise pressure. The men stand with head in 2 ft air space. Putting on mechanical lung and diving escape hatch Lieutenant Momsen’s uses batteryless ‘phone to talk with ship’s Captain in control room. As the sea door opens our cameraman, CT Traub and Lieutenant Momsen stayed in the engine room while the water was blown out by compressed air - this has never been attempted before.
