Summary
For almost three quarters of the race, two horses are the centre of attraction - Royal Danielli and MacMoffat - both horses keeping almost level over the jumps. But on the second time round at the Canal Turn a riderless horse crosses Royal Danielli’s path and takes him back at least two lengths. MacMoffat is out in front on his own with Royal Danielli trying to catch him and another horse Bogskar now comes into the picture. At the last jump but one Royal Danielli falls and Bogskar comes up to take the lead and in the final dash beat MacMoffat by four lengths. Bogskar wins the 1940 Grand National at 25-1.
