- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Derby - 1939. DESCRIPTION: The sights and sounds of Derby Day. In the absence of the King and Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester lead the Royal Party. The race is won by "Blue Peter". SHOTLIST: The usual collection of bookmakers, race-goers, tipsters and others are seen gathering on the Epsom Downs to attend the running of the 1939 Derby. The Duke and the Duchess of Gloucester accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Kent and the Princess Royal are present. After the parade the horses line up and get away to a good start. The winner is "Blue Peter" ridden by E Smith and the second placed is "Scottish Union". Lord Rosebery is there to lead in his horse "Blue Peter".
