Summary
The valleys and hills around Medjez-el-Bab rumble and shake as our armoured divisions bear down to deliver the crippling body blow which sealed the fate of Tunis, watched by General Alexander. A German tank hiding in a German military cemetery receives a direct hit and becomes a funeral pyre. More members of the Afrika Corps give themselves up. Much of our advance transport was already in the outskirts of Tunis while fighting was still going on further back. More Italian and German prisoners are taken. Aerial shots of Tunis show the airfield to be almost destroyed and by contrast the rest of Tunis to be almost unscathed. On entering Tunis the last remaining snipers are routed, more prisoners are rounded up and then the civilian population come out to give their welcome to our troops.
