Abduction from the Seraglio and Falstaff

Synopsis
Two new productions from the 1999 season at the New York City Opera. Each segment includes two arias or duets performed by singers from the productions, interspersed with discussions with the singers, conductors and dramaturg Cori Ellison. In the second segment (43 min) the panellists and moderator Bridget Paolucci discuss the significance of Falstaff in Verdi’s career, Verdi’s interest in Shakespeare, and the relationship between the opera and The Merry Wives of Windsor. The singers discuss their roles.
