Interview: Mark Rylance, Part 2
- Synopsis
- Heather Neill continues her interview with the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre’s artistic director, Mark Rylance. Rylance talks about the three original pronunciation productions to be staged at the Globe. One of the advisors was John Barton who believes Elizabethan English would sound close to the English spoken in North Carolina. Rylance also speaks of the buildings in which Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed including Middle Temple Hall and Hampton Court where the Globe’s three repertory companies would play. Neill asks Rylance about his choice of repertory and casting which he responds to at length.

- General
- Theatrevoice is a website for audio content about British theatre, and features journalists from across the UK as well as press and practitioners from across the theatre industry. It was set up in 2003 to see if theatre could be talked about in a new way: allowing critics to be more expansive than the usual space constraints of the print media allowed. In 2008, V&A Theatre Collections and Rose Bruford College, London agreed to support the site in partnership. (http://www.theatrevoice.com/about_us/, accessed 7/2010)
