- Synopsis
- Live radio show presented by Ken Bruce featuring music used in the films of Shakespeare. The BBC Concert Orchestra is conducted by Richard Balcombe and their performance includes extracts from William Walton’s music from Henry V and Richard III; Stephen Warbeck’s score for Shakespeare in Love; Nino Rota’s love theme from Romeo and Juliet ; Eric Rodgers music to Carry on Cleo and Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. Friday Night singers Shona Lindsay, Tim Rogers and Jimmy Johnson perform "Brush Up Your Shakepeare" with a selection of songs from Kiss Me Kate (Cole Porter); West Side Story (Leonard Bernstein) and Rodgers and Hart’s The Boys from Syracuse - based on The Comedy of Errors.
