About this project
This project was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
The ILR Programme Sharing Project originated from a search by Professor Sean Street, originally a producer for Two Counties Radio (2CR) to find tapes that were deposited with the ILR Programme Sharing Scheme. Professor Street eventually located the tapes in a British Library store, including the programmes he had originally contributed in the 1980s.
Bournemouth University's Centre for Broadcasting History Research in partnership with the British Library - National Sound Archive put together a funding bid to digitise the material to the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
The material was originally transferred to Gold CDRs, but over the life of the project it became apparent that it would be possible to transfer all 1500 CDRs to a single computer hard disk. The Centre for Broadcasting History managed the transfer and once completed The British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC) created a database to deliver the material over the web to UK higher and further education.
