Between 1983-1990 the Association of Independent Radio Companies [AIRC] operated the
Independent Local Radio Programme Sharing Scheme (originally established by the IBA in
a limited form) to share excellent drama, documentaries, features and current affairs
between Independent Local Radio stations struggling to meet their commitments for
speech radio.
The 1990 Broadcasting Act brought this period to end. The archive was
deposited with the British Library where it remained until Professor Sean Street
identified the significance of the archive and arranged for it to be digitised. Search
and enjoy over 1150 programmes from this unique collection.
