Career
Billy Bool joined the film industry around 1905, and over the next fifteen years worked as a cameraman for Gaumont, British and Colonial, the Williamson Film Company, and Barker Motion Photography. He was on the committee of the Kine Cameramen’s Society and was Vice President in 1920, by which time he was working for Cinechrome Limited on high-speed photography. Bool also did freelance newsreel work, and filmed several stories for the Daily Sketch Topical Budget in 1923 - on one occasion being accompanied by ‘Bool (jnr)' [qv]. Billy Bool seems also to have freelanced for Pathe, for whom his first recorded assignment was as part of the camera team covering the Cup Final for Pathe Gazette No.1602 in April 1929.
