Career
Israel Wamala was one of the regular presenters of the ‘New Commonwealth’ versions of London Line, a magazine programme produced by the Central Office of Information [qv] for the Commonwealth Relations Office [qv]. These editions were shown in countries which had recently joined the Commonwealth, primarily in Africa and the Caribbean. He appeared in one of the earlier issues, ‘The Times’ Overseas Students Welfare Expansion Programme’ London Line No.82, released in 1966.
He was better known as editor of the BBC World Service programme Focus On Africa which he produced for twenty years before returning to Uganda in 1988.
