Career

Bill Metcalfe was a regular director for London Line (1964-1978), a magazine programme produced by the Central Office of Information (COI) [qv] for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office [qv] and shown primarily in Africa and the Caribbean. He is credited as floor manager for ‘ECOLOGY’, London Line No.394, released in 1972 but all his further work is as director, for example ‘Thomson Foundation For Journalism’ London Line No.403, released in 1972. He also directed occasional issues of another COI series, This Week In Britain (1959-1980), his earliest credit being ‘DIAMONDS’, This Week In Britain No.972, released 1977.
