Hayes was a freelance cameraman who in 1923 supplied the Daily Sketch Topical Budget with several stories from France, Belgium, and Italy, beginning with film from Paris in ‘SIKI OR MCTEAGUE?', an item on boxing in No.601-1 of March 1923. His last recorded footage was incorporated in ‘KING AND QUEEN’S GREAT WELCOME IN ROME’ in Daily Sketch Topical Budget No.611-1 in May 1923.
