- Summary
- With the use of high explosives, American troops and tanks move through the ‘dragon’s teeth’ of the Siegfried Line. In Belgium, Bailey bridges are erected across the Escaut Canal, the original bridge having been destroyed in the enemy’s retreat, having already failed to hold the enemy’s retreat, having already failed to hold the Allies on the Albert Canal. Battered German equipment is passed, and German wounded are helped back to the British lines by their comrades. Eindhoven across the Dutch border is the next objective of the British Second Army and they are cheered on their way by liberated civilians. After meeting with stiff opposition from the enemy Eindhoven is entered and scenes of enthusiasm greet the troops.
