- Supporting Marshal Koniev’s forces advancing from the east, British and American planes bomb Dresden which lies within seventy miles of the oncoming Russian troops. 800 planes went to Dresden and dropped incendiaries and high explosive bombs. On the following day, February 15th, Dresden received its third raid in 36 hours when more than 1,100 Flying Fortresses and Liberators took part in another heavy attack.
