Researcher Comments
Commentary: A little red squirrel is proving to be a life-saver. He’s Tufty, the mascot which the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has introduced to very small schoolchildren. In learning their kerb-drill, the toddlers are told to copy everything the lovable squirrel does. Tufty walks quietly along the pavement, and wouldn’t dream of running in the road, they’re told. At the moment, it is all a game for the children, but at the same time they are learning an extremely valuable lesson.
