Summary
Pathe synopsis: When it’s holiday time, there’s nothing like a day at the races. They’re always racing down on a donkey ranch started by a woman RSPCA inspector. All the local children, some to help with the grooming and care of the happy mokes. Then, when the chores are done, everyone trots to the meadow for the afternoon’s events. First on the card is a hurdle race, and as long as the weigh-in says the jockey is under nine stone, Jockey Club Rules are forgotten: it’s every donkey for himself. "They’re off!" goes the shout and, with a thunder of hooves, a score of donkeys head for the first fence. The thundering dies away - because, somehow, the mokes would rather eat the fence than jump it.
