- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: So cheers! For the rum-runners paradise that was off Devon’s coast - Burgh Island. This is a half-tide island that you reach when the water’s high by a whacky bus that is, obviously, the foster-father of an amphibious tank. It’s unchanged since the old Excise men were at war with the local smugglers. We watch the sea in its endless warfare with the cliffs, carving strange beauty out of them. And we see that this is a jungle, too, where elemental battles are endlessly fought out.
