- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King With the Fleet. DESCRIPTION: The King has paid a three day visit to the Home Fleet, inspecting shore establishments and ships. He also visited some of the American ships now serving with the Royal Navy. SHOTLIST: Much of this material was censored. The King enters a barge and visits units of the Fleet, including Submarine Depot Ship and the Battleship HMS ‘Duke of York’. Aboard this flag-ship he is greeted by Admiral Tovey. C-in-C Home Fleet. He inspects the men and divisions and reviews a march past. Then he goes aboard a barge for a trip to American units stationed with the Home Fleet. Here he is greeted by Admiral Stark, who commands the unit and shots of officers and men, including Petty Officer Douglas Fairbanks Jnr. He goes aboard a merchant ship and goes through the lines of the Fleet flying the signal ‘Splice the Main Brace’. All general views of American ships were censored, but the Cuts not censored show the King at a shore station canteen.
