- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Duchess at Village Memorial Service (Duke of Kent). DESCRIPTION: As the Duke of Kent’s body is borne to Windsor, the Duchess attends a memorial service in the church of St Peter’s, Iver. SHOTLIST: Outside Duke’s residence at Iver, Bucks. Policeman on duty beside whom is the Duke’ favourite dog "Muff" (a chow). Car drives out with Queen Mary in, passing small crowd outside. Various shots of residence from different angles. The above was taken by J Ramsden. Very good shot of St Peter’s Church, Iver, with trees in foreground, villagers arriving for service, Duchess arrives by car, getting out car escorting by Rev. Digby Creighton. Shot of same walking through churchyard. Duchess leaving church accompanied by Lady Herbert. Duchess shakes hands with (I think Chief Constable). Duchess & Lady Herbert get into car which drives away. Above taken by P Wyand. Train draws into platform, on which are lined RAF Officers & men. Duke’s coffin draped with Royal Standard carried by RAF. NCO’s to Red Cross Ambulance. Ambulance drives out of station past waiting crowds. Shot of crowd near station entrance. Coffins on Hon. Michael Strutt & Leading Aircraftsman Hales carried from train. Trucks bearing coffins drive away. Above by Tunwell. Very good shot of Windsor Castle, also of St Peter’s Church. Iver. Various shots of Windsor Castle, shots of soldiers entering, people outside looking on. Discretion had to be used shooting this.
