MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: National Day of Prayer. DESCRIPTION: The 3rd September, 1942 was marked by a National Day of Prayer for victory. SHOTLIST: Various of shots of church showing damage through blitz, including the roof, majority of which had been shot away. SV on congregation. Back view of congregation facing altar. General shots of same seated. Shot of church tower camera gradually coming down to entrance. Worshippers in damaged church standing in circles singing. Scots Guards Pipe Band in attendance. General shot of service, showing Rev. AGB West conducting, address by Sir Waldron Smithers. Hymns being sung, general shot. Elevation shot of roofless church. Elevation shot looking through window, blossom on trees in background. Pathe - RAF personnel approaching from three directions onto large parade ground (7,000 in attendance). Aerial shot of same. "O God our Help" being played as camera took various shots of RAF. Shot of RAF & band playing. Shot of a few men of the British Legion amongst the crowds. General shots of crowds. Planes flying high overhead, believe they were Bostons. Aerial shot of RAF Flag being hoisted from rostrum on which was the Senior OD Chaplain, who reads the lesson.
