Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Danish Defiance. DESCRIPTION: Film taken in Denmark showing the continuous battle against the German occupation has just reached Britain. The climax was the general strike in Copenhagen, the whole population stopped work and the Germans tried to starve them into submission. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated shot of street. Various shots of traffic as usual. Slogan on wall "Do it well and do it now". Various shots of blazing ammunition factory which had been taken over by the Hun, blown up by Danish Underground. Pans of the harbour show many scuttled ships. Trucking shot shows US flags & Danish flags flying. Ruined warehouses, sweeping away glass etc. Underground put barricades up in streets, during General Strike, Danish civilians get water from well, Nazis having stopped water, gas & electricity. Elevated shot of hundreds of people observing two minutes silence for their comrades who have been killed. Crowds being harassed in streets, German sailor takes civilian away. GV of graves of those who were killed in fray. Elevated shot of people standing still to finish.
