- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Reducing the Philippines. DESCRIPTION: Preceding the attack on Luzon itself, operations against Leyte, Negros and other Philippine Islands had opened the way for the big assault. Any assault force landed on Leyte, the results from there led on to the success on Luzon and the eventual liberation of all the Philippines. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Aerial shots of Liberators in formation. Several shots of Libs. Bombs exploding on island of Negros. Explosions also on island of Zamboanga. Landing craft under way approaching Leyte (Ormoc Bay), various US warships give protection. Warship fire small guns, tracers through the sky. LCI & amphibious craft (with tank turret) approaches shores. Jap plane shot down near American cruiser. Two columns of smoke from American warships hit by Japs. Survivors in the sea, various shots, also of individual rescues. GV of landing craft passing camera to finish.
