- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Surrender - Monty Dictates the Terms. DESCRIPTION: Field Marshal Montgomery met with General Admiral von Friedeburg, Rear-Admiral Wagner and General Kinzel on Luneburg Heath, where he told them that unconditional surrender was all that would be accepted. After a short discussion the Germans agreed and the surrender documents were signed. SHOTLIST: Cut story - German officials arrive at Monty’s HQ. GV of same standing under Union Jack awaiting Monty. Monty walks towards them. Most important among the Germans were General-Admiral von Friedeburg, Rear Admiral Wagner, General Kinzel. Various shots of Monty addressing (silent) the group. Interpreter speaks to Germans. The Germans in copse talking amongst themselves. GV of marquee tent. Inside seated round table, the above, Monty at the head, who reads out the terms of the surrender etc. He then says, General Admiral von Friedeburg will sign first; Friedeburg signs. "Admiral Wagner will sign second", Admiral Wagner signs. After signing has finished. Montgomery signs. "We will now adjourn, the following being in closed session". GV of tent to finish. During Monty’s reading of terms cut-ins of those seated round table.
