- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Hong Kong Surrender. DESCRIPTION: The last of the major Japanese surrenders was signed at Hong Kong on the sixteenth of September. Not before some Japanese resistance had been overcome and prisoners rounded up. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Aerial shot of coastline and city of Hong Kong. Various shots of Royal Navy ships anchored off Hong Kong. LCIs approach land. Naval launch under way. Sailors search buildings, firing machine guns from windows, Bren gunners in action. Elevated shot of Japs running down streets waving white flags. Japs being marched off escorted by sailors. Colonel Tokunaga escorted from hotel, holding up his trousers, ordered to get into lorry. Seated in lorry. At Shamshuipo Prison Camp Japs are searched by RAF personnel, various shots of prisoners being searched. Their kit being scattered about the ground, Jap flag found in one is stamped and trod on. Various shots of streets of Hong Kong, shopping centre. Travelling shot crossing the bows of HMS "Duke of York" battleship. Ashore, at Government House, Admiral Sir Bruce Fraser enters with Rear Admiral Harcourt, take their seats. Japs, Major General Okada and Vice Admiral Fujita arrive with their swords. The former signs first, surrenders his sword; the latter signing afterwards, also surrendering his sword. CU document. Aerial shot of Hong Kong to finish.
