Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Meteor Break Speed Record. DESCRIPTION: The "Gloster Meteor IV" flown by Eric Greenwood and the "Britannia" flown by Group Captain Wilson attempt the Air Speed Record. Both planes made a big advance on the existing record but the fastest was "Britannia". SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Shot of Meteor during test run. CU "Gloster Meteor IV" and CU "Britannia", Eric Greenwood climbs aboard Meteor IV, taxies into camera, looking out to sea, aerial shot passing over marker buoys. Greenwood alights at Manston aerodrome, WAAF Margaret Woodfield assists him on with this coat. Cameraman and soundmen at work on pier. Shots of Wilson’s "Britannia" in flight. Plane on record break run as seen from pier, background coastline. At Manston, Wilson walks across aerodrome, takes off his shoe, replaces same. CU Wilson being congratulated by Greenwood. CU Wilson speaking, thanking the RAF crew who assisted him, and looked after the machine.
