MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Us Steel Strike. DESCRIPTION: The steel strike in America has affected many parts of industry and President Truman has intervened. Philip Murray, CIO Chief, explains the situation. SHOTLIST: KS GV steel factory. GV steel factory, locomotive steams through. Interior - various shots of molten steel, steel furnaces, steel going through various processes. CU Philip Murray (CIO chief) speaks, says "Mr Truman suggested an alternative, United Steel Workers accepted, but the Steel Industry refused" or words to that affect. GV steel plant. Workers walk out of plant, sitting around plant can be seen in background. Automobile factory idle owing to strike. Pickets walk around outside with notices (pancake men). In Pittsburgh, pickets walk around in pouring snow outside steel plant.
