MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Daily Mail British Film Festival. DESCRIPTION: The British Film Festival was organised in connection with the National Film Award for the best British Film of the war. Many stars attended the event at the Leicester Square Theatre. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS LS theatre. Crowds in Leicester Square. Tilt down of theatre and poster outside theatre. In foyer Leslie Mitchell interviews (silent) Lord Woolton, also George Robey and Lord Rothermere with CB Cochran. Leslie Mitchell seated in restaurant with film stars, eating ices etc. CU Phyllis Calvert and Margaret Lockwood rehearsing their parts. Tommy Trinder and Stanley Holloway talking to some of the stars, Trinder says "Girls, if you come again in the summer, when you can wear swimming costumes, we might be able to do something for you". George Formby seated between two stars, his wife comes in and tells him to come away. MS Leslie Mitchell on stage compering show. Trinder congratulates Juliet Brothers, the designer of the trophy. Various shots including CU of the trophy which will be awarded to the best film stars for acting.
