MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Princess Elizabeth Launches A/C "Eagle". DESCRIPTION: The Princess went to Belfast to launch the Aircraft Carrier HMS Eagle. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS. MS & MCU Princess Elizabeth’s Standard flying from masthead of HMS "Superb" (cruiser). MS & SCU Princess on bridge of cruiser with Naval officer. Princess has scarf round her head. Escorting destroyers can be seen in background. Destroyer "Fame" enters Dufferin Dock, on deck - Princess Elizabeth with Lord Granville walk out of camera towards gangway. Princess into camera along gangway, followed by Lord Granville and Princess’s Lady-in-Waiting. At Harland and Wolff Shipyard, huge crowds gathered. Pan of crowds (excellent shot) on all advantage points, cranes etc. Elevated shot Princess inspecting Guard of Honour. Youngest shipyard worker presents bouquet to Princess. Accompanied by Sir Frederick Rebbeck. Chairman of the company, they walk onto launching platform, several shots on same, also MS Princess with Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham. CU Aircraft Carrier bows. Princess says "I name you Eagle, God protect her and all those who sail in her"; smashes bottle against ship’s bows, starts to slide down runway, shot of Eagle launching out of camera, crowds run to get better view of her as she enters water. Cut-in of Princess laughing (on launching platform). Aircraft carrier Eagle in water being manoeuvred by tugs.
