MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rain and Shine at Ascot - Royal Hunt Cup & Gold Cup. DESCRIPTION: Hunt Cup Day was really wet and the race itself was won by Friar’s Fancy. Gold Cup Day began fine but the King and Princess Elizabeth were caught in a heavy shower when they visited the paddock. It was a French victory when Caracalla took the Gold Cup. SHOTLIST: KS Raining - MS Royal Standard flying, crowds in background holding up umbrellas. GV grandstand. Groups walk about. Start of Royal Hunt Cup and panning shot. Friar’s Fancy takes lead and wins by three lengths. Royal landau arrives on Gold Cup Day, drives down course. Various cut-ins of ladies in summer dresses, frocks, hats, etc. King in Naval uniform and Princess Elizabeth with umbrella over her head walk through paddock, raining. GV crowds standing in torrential rain. GV grandstand during torrential rain. GV runners indicator. Parade. Start of Gold Cup Race. Horses race past camera, French horse Faliero sets the pace, horses past grandstand first time round, panning shot of them out in the country (on swing), coming round bend into straight for finish. Caracalla II takes lead and racing past camera at winning post. Caracalla II led into unsaddling enclosure.
