Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England V Scotland - Soccer 2-2. DESCRIPTION: Manchester City’s ground was the venue for a charity match between England and Scotland. The result was a draw two all. SHOTLIST: KS Crowd shot. Various crowd shots, showing many types of Scottish supporters. Teams come out led by captains John Shaw (Scotland) and Frank Swift (England). Toss up. Kick off, elevated shot. Cut-ins of crowds. Stanley Matthews (No 7) dribbling and speeding down wing, passing ball to centre. Shooting at goal. Matthews passes to Don Welsh, who scores with a low shot. Cut-in crowds cheering. Scotland attacking, the passing being very good indeed. Elevated shot of same. Following corner kick, Thornton equalised for Scotland. Scramble, John Shaw handles ball. Don Welsh takes penalty kick and scores. Scots attack English goal, play around same. Waddell in action makes several attacks at English goal. Willie Waddell passes to Thornton across goalmouth who scores, making score 2-2. Crowds cheer. CU players jump for joy and hug each other. Crowds rush over pitch as players leave ground.
