MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Easter - Crowds Defy Holiday Weather. DESCRIPTION: Thousands went to Kempton Park for the Easter Meeting and there were also crowds at Herne Hill to watch the Cycle racing. It was overcoat weather at the south east coastal resorts and dodging the waves on the front was the chief sport at Bognor. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV crowds at Kempton Races. GV crowds at Kempton Races. Several scenes in paddock and parade, horses, jockeys mounting and being led out. Cut-ins of bookies laying the odds. Racegoers look through field glasses. Elevated shot finish of the Rosebery Stakes won by Philadelphe II. SLIP PAN Cyclists race round track at Herne Hill, cut-ins of spectators, some beat their hands to keep warm. Shots of cyclists racing. Cut-ins of spectators. GV cycle park. SLIP PAN In Oslo, children along roads on skis. Shots of cars leaving Oslo, POV through windscreen of first car, route taken by cars, snow covered roads. Several shots of ferry boat crossing Great Belt, ice floating on river. GV exhibition at Berne, Switzerland. Cars outside same. CU seven different countries’ flags on bonnet of car. SLIP PAN GV bathing beauties parade along Hastings front with their coats over them. MS lined up. CU judge beating his hands to keep warm. Several shots of contestants. Shots of Bognor seafront shows rough seas, waves break over promenade, people run back to miss waves. Also shots of waves breaking over promenade at Moreton, with people trying to dodge them. At Brighton, several shots of children at the fun fair, various children on motors, see-saws etc. People eating ice creams. SCU Martin Gray’s son eating ice cream cornet.
