Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Test Match - England V South Africa. DESCRIPTION: South Africa’s first innings produced only 175 runs. A heavy downpour on the morning of the second day delayed the start of England’s innings, but it didn’t prevent Hutton scoring a century when play resumed. SHOTLIST: KS Two captains walk out on to pitch. Toss up Alan Melville wins. Melville and Dyer walk out to bat. GV play. SCU Bill Edrich bowling. SCU Melville batting. SCU Viljeon bowled, bails flying. Dawson walks off out. Tuckett caught behind wicket, walks off. Various rain shots, crowds scattering, small streams of water under seats, really raining hard. Several persons covered by macs, umbrellas, wait for rain to stop. Several shots of running rain water. Large puddles about pitch. Len Hutton and Cyril Washbrook out to bat. Hutton batting. Hutton acknowledges his century.
