MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Mighty Project. Huge Steel Factory Under Construction. DESCRIPTION: At Port Talbot in South Wales work has begun on the construction of a 50 million pound steel strip mill. SHOTLIST: KS SCU surveyor using theodolite. Pan of sand dunes, sea in background. CU bulldozer pushing sand before it. CU mechanical leveller levelling sand. CU ground being flatten out. Molten slag being poured onto ground from trucks. SCU tender. Lines of lorries loaded with sand leaves dunes. Man turning handle of small box instrument to set off explosion. Cut-in of workmen with fingers in their ears. GV of old slag heap being dynamited. CU of grab of dredger picking up sand, dropping same on lorry. MS lorry drives off. GV Bailey Bridge across river, Great Western Railway train passes. Interior SCU Mr EH Lever (Chairman of the Steel Company of Wales) speaking about the project, being the largest in Europe at finish etc. GV of Morgan Works. GV pile drivers at work on site. Workmen laying dead branches over sand mounds. CU grab picking up sand. SCU engineer looking at soil, turning same over in his hands. Lorries drive away from site. Coach full with men drives away from site. Workmen walk off into camera after work has finished. Mr Lever speaks again, better steel, better tin plate, better pots and pans etc.
