MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Wimbledon Tennis Opens. DESCRIPTION: Rain caused considerable delays on the first day of the Tennis Championships. The first match on the Centre Court was between Don Butler of Britain and American Tom Brown. SHOTLIST: KS GV main entrance, crowds outside. People arriving with umbrellas up. GV Centre Court being covered owing to rain. SCU Doris Hart signs autographs. SCU Jean Borotra ditto. SCU Fred Perry and de Stefani. SCU Jaroslav Drobny (in glasses) with Choy (Chinese). MS Frank Parker receiving. SCU John Bromwich receiving. Cut-in crowds. Elevated GV of Don Butler and Tom Brown (in shorts) in play. Brown serves to Butler who throws his racket at ball. Rush up to net & shakes hands. SCU both walk off court.
