- Summary
- The fall of Hong Kong and Singapore to the Japanese. Then the Fourteenth Army began to "beat the Japs at their own game". The part played by the US Pacific Fleet, under Admiral Nimitz. US troops land in Philippines and recapture the territory. General MacArthur. The Royal Navy in the Pacific. Admiral Fraser challenges the Japanese. Danger to the British Fleet from Japanese suicide bombers. The "Super-Fortresses" extends the Allied range to the whole of Japan. The "ultimate in war" - the A-bomb, hastens the end of the war. Rejoicing crowds in Piccadilly.
